We previously brought you news of a failed Forrest Gump sequel and now we have another failed movie. Yes, we are already well aware that Sigourney Weaver did appear in an Alien 3 movie, along with a cast including Charles Dance and Pete Postlethwaite but that film almost never happened, as there was a different Alien 3 idea in store just a couple of years earlier.
Back in 1990, there was a plan to make an Alien 3 movie, with an all together different set of circumstances. Everything was put together and in place, with a cast and crew all good to go and a script prepared, and even production on the project actually began.
The original idea for Alien 3 was that the movie would be set on a man-made wooden planet, that was completely occupied by monks. The idea was to give the Alien franchise a more medieval feel to it, with the monks seeking the help of Sigourney Weaver, to help fight off the Aliens.
The Alien 3 project was green lit by the production company, Sigourney Weaver signed on to return to her role as Ripley and production began. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you view it), the studio began to panic and writer and director Vincent Ward decided to scrap the project.
What an interesting film that would have been.
