Following the impressive performance of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner aka The Hulk in the Marvel movie The Avengers, it was no surprise that fans soon began calling for him to star in a Hulk standalone movie. While there has been a lot of talk about a potential Hulk movie being made, nothing has actually gone into development yet.
With that said though, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has admitted that there could be a possibility of Mark Ruffalo starring in a Hulk standalone movie in the future. Kevin touched on the idea of a Planet Hulk film but admitted that he would rather see more of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, before going for a completely Hulk project.
Feige explained to IGN, "I think what's cool about the Planet Hulk story is it's all Hulk. He's a gladiator, he's fighting all these creatures on another world. Yes, some of those creatures show up in [Guardians of the Galaxy], which makes people think, 'Oh, maybe it could exist.' And maybe it could exist, someday."
He added, "I don't think that's the first place we would go though for the very reason that you stated, which is, if we were ever able to do a standalone Hulk movie, 60 percent of the fun would be seeing Mark Ruffalo leading a Marvel movie -- and that's what we would do if we ever went down that road."
Until we can even begin to think about a Hulk standalone movie though, we still have a whole host of other Marvel movies coming our way over the next few years. Next up we have Guardians of the Galaxy, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron, then Ant-Man, while we also have the likes of Doctor Strange, Thor 3 and Captain America 3 all in the works, plus others.
Are you looking forward to a standalone Hulk movie?
