Actress Gemma Merna once left Hollyoaks to pursue other avenues of her career, before realising that the grass is not always greener on the other side, returning to the show. Her co-star Jorgie Porter has now left the show and Gemma has admitted that she is really going to miss her.
Merna explained, "She's my best friend and we're very close, so it was heartbreaking. It's the choices people want to make but, fingers crossed, maybe one day she will want to come back." Fortunately though, she has no plans to leave the show herself.
She added, "I'm very happy at the moment. I love life here. Carmel is getting some great storylines. If you're not getting good storylines, that's when you get itchy feet. I've been working here for seven years and it's like a family. We've been through so much together, I would hugely miss it."
Gemma then opened up about the future of Carmel, admitting that there are some exciting things ahead, "I can't really talk about it, because I don't want to give away the storylines, but there is exciting stuff coming up in the near future that carries on into next year."
You can catch Gemma Merna, in her familiar role of Carmel McQueen, in Hollyoaks, which airs on Channel 4 on week nights at 6:30pm, with the first look episode airing on E4 at 7pm.
